Week 8

July 13th - July 19th: Filtering and Tubing

Week 7 < ----------------- > Week 9

After meeting with Forrest and Raviv (signal processing professor) this week I was given the task to implement algorithms that will help clean up the noisy images. Raviv had implemented a version of the Wiener filter in Matlab and they wanted me to recreate it in C++ along with other filters like the convolution filters such as the Gaussian blur, average blur and triangle blur, contrast and brightness filters, and a median filter. So I spent the rest of the week implementing these algorithms and tracking the positive results that seem to clean up the images best. The results will soon be posted in the project section.

WEEKEND: It was a gorgeous weekend in Corvallis and with their daVinci days going on, people were out and about having a good time. Saturday morning I went to the market with Melissa and bought my traditional raspberries and green beans. Then we put on our swimsuits and went with a couple of friend tubing down the Willamette River. It was supposed to be a 3 hour trip, but it ended being about 5 and got a little cold towards the end, but it felt really good to be out enjoying the weather.
