Week 6

June 29th - July 5th: Debugging and the 4th

Week 5 < ----------------- > Week 7

I was still working on minor things within the second window until the Tuesday meeting. Forrest explained that the ecologists are only hired on until July 14th, which is coming up really fast. So, we set a timeline to try and have all of the bugs out of it by next Monday so that it would give some time for the ecologists to be able to run the program and create good data that can be used as training sets for future machine learning algorithms. I spent the rest of the week working out some bugs that I found and cleaning stuff up.

WEEKEND: It was the fourth of July this weekend, and it felt good to stay busy so I wouldn't think of being home. Sabrina (my roommate) and I got up on Saturday and we went downtown where they had all kinds of activities. We took the dog that Sabrina has been dog watching for and went to the parade and the market. In the afternoon we went with one of Sabrina's friends and took a canoe down a nearby river. The water was cold, but amazingly beautiful and clear. Going through some of the rapids was kind of scary, but very thrilling. Afterwards, we decided to head back to downtown and grab some food at one of the stands they had set up. After eating an amazing cheese steak sandwiches, we met the mayor of Corvallis who greeted us on the way out. Then, after taking the dog to the dog park for a romp around, we went grocery shopping (kind of random, but fun). To watch the fireworks, we hiked up Chip Ross Hill and looked over the entire valley to see fireworks going off everywhere. Overall it was a pretty amazing day.
