Week 0

May 18th - May 25nd: The Move

Weekly Log< ----------------- >Week 1

I just finished up on my finals at the U of M, and to be honest, I am really not sure how they went. I know some went better than others, but they are done now, and it is time to move on to what is ahead. Over finals week I switched to being full time where I work as an intern in the IT department at the headquarters of a manufacturing company. It has been kind of crazy trying to train in the new intern on all the things that I have done over the past year, while trying to get all of my stuff together.

HOUSING: Everyone has been asking me about my housing situation out in Oregon. I had decided that I didn't want to live in the dorms, since I have been so used to living on my own and being able to cook and do whatever I want. I posted an ad on craigslist. Things are not always safe on craigslist, but after almost getting scammed by someone while I was trying to sublet my apartment, I have learned what to look for. I posted under the 'need housing' section and most of the people that responded seemed real, but the price range or the location wasn't quite what I was looking for. About 3 weeks ago I got a response from Debra (pretty much the coolest girl ever) who was looking for someone to sublet her room for the summer. She seemed down to earth and the price was in my range and it wasn't that far from campus, so we talked over the phone and made arrangements.

PACKING: So not only am I moving out to Oregon for 10 weeks, but while I am out there, my roommates here in Minnesota are moving out of our current house to a new one. I have been trying to get everything all packed up so that when I come I will at least know where some of my stuff is, but it is still going to be hard to move back into a new house, when I really like the old one. The reason we are moving in the first place is because our house got foreclosed and now the bank owns it and they want us OUT! They gave us our two month notice on May 11th, and the boys (my roommates) get to pack everything and move to our new house... without me.

DRIVING: So, I have arrived in Oregon! After two days of driving with my boyfriend, Matt, and sister, Brandy, we have arrived. The drive, though long and somewhat boring, was beautiful and the random stops we made on the way were pretty fun. We had laid out an itinerary to follow before we left, and had an awesome cross country adventure.
