2012 CAPP Advanced Career Mentoring Workshop

By Erik Russell, CRA Director of Programs

The Computing Research Association’s Committee on the Status of Women in Computing Research (CRA-W) recently held the 2012 CAPP Advanced Career Mentoring Workshop in San Francisco, CA on November 16-17, 2012. The goal of the CAPP Workshop is to increase the percentage of Computer Science and Engineering women faculty members and researchers/scientists who reach the top of their respective career tracks.

Forty-nine participants representing academia, government, and industry laboratories from across the United States came together to meet and interact with colleagues. They were joined by 21 senior technical women where, together, they engaged in mentoring activities, leadership training, and peer-support activities.

The 2012 CAPP Workshop was supported in part by an NSF BPC grant, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, IBM Almaden Research Lab, Microsoft Corporation and a private foundation. We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generous contributions in support of the 2012 CAPP.
