Week 5 (June 14 - June 20) :
Work Stuff: There is both excitement and
frustration in my work this week. The excitement is coming from that I
have explored a way to help my robot do better on moving on a straight
line. Specifically, I use the command calibrate() in order to tweak the
speed of the robot’s left and right motors. In addition, as my
understanding about the Scribbler robot has increased, more and more fun
ideas have come to me so that I can program the robot to do more. For
example, currently, I would want to teach two robots playing a tag game.
Although having an idea is exciting, the implement process often involve
frustration: I cannot make the Myro library talk to multiple robots at
the same time. Fortunately, my mentor has given me a tip which I will
develop in the coming week: using Python to talk directly to the robots’
Bluetooth adapter.
Life Stuff: There is not much going on in my life this week except my family had a wonderful time celebrating my husband’s birthday. Because his birthday is on a workday, we do not have friends to come over; yet, the four of us had a really enjoyable time: the kids gave him birthday card which they made for him a few days before; we ordered food and had dinner at home, then the kids helps with blowing birthday candle so that they can have cake. I feel so grateful for everything: my family, and especially, my blessings that I have been able to participate in the DREU program without leaving my obligation at home.
