WOMEN'S ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

The National Science Foundation is sponsoring the first Women's Engineering Leadership Conference. The 4-day leadership conference is designed to familiarize high achieving mid-career women engineering professors with academic leadership roles ranging from department chair to university president. The number of participants will be limited and we are requesting that Deans notify all women faculty who are associate and early full professors and encourage them to apply for the conference. The conference will be held October 11-15 near Winterpark, Colorado. In the Gordon style conference format, there will be morning and evening sessions and participants will be free to spend the afternoons in one on one discussion with each other and with engineering administrators and academic leaders. Conference activities will span such elements as the mechanics of preparing a departmental budget to spearheading a fund development effort and developing a university strategic plan. The conference expenses are paid for and there is a travel allowance as well.
