Mentoring Undergraduate Women in Computing Research
The CRA Distributed Mentor Project works to increase the number of women entering graduate school in Computer Science and Computer Engineering (CS&E). To achieve this, the project matches outstanding female undergraduates with female mentors for a summer of research at the mentor's institution. This research experience provides students with a window on research and graduate life, and gives them a close mentoring relationship with a faculty researcher.
The Distributed Mentor Project was conceived and is managed by the Computing Research Association Committee on the Status of Women in Computing Research. National Science Foundation awarded this project approximately $240K for 1994 and 1995, $530K for 1996, 1997 and 1998, and $630K for 1999, 2000, and 2001.
