Project: Information Extraction and Summarization by Agents
Student Researchers: Lori Bryan, Joanne Pinheiro

Institution: Marymount University

The goal of this project is to develop software agents with information extraction and summarization capabilities on the web. Software agents are autonomous entities with their own agenda that can communicate with other agents and applications by means of message passing. We will build multiple agents using a Java middleware, the CoABS Grid, and allow message passing using XML (Extensible Markup Language), and we will build different extraction and summarization capabilities for our agents using natural language processing techniques.
