We propose to develop a small scale Beowulf type cluster running Linux, and to learn to program it. This will provide the foundation to create a "how-to" manual describing our experiences in implementation, ranging from hardware recommendations through installation and management of the operating system (Linux) through application coding in a parallel environment. Each phase of the project will culminate in a learning module suitable for undergraduate study.
